Impressions....
To be released this coming Thursday, July
25th, 2002.. i got my copy of Spirited Away yesterday, Saturday,
for some reason unknown to me.. but that is just fine with
me... i guess it came out early or something ^_^...
the story is that 10 year old, Chihiro has
stumbled into the bathhouse of the gods.. and her journey
to return to the land of mortels with her parents...
Spirited Away is one of the best Animation
flims i've ever seen.. a splendid masterpiece of film and
art that illustrates perfect harmony of fantasy and circumstance...
vibrant colors, imaginative architecture and characters...
you will be set in magnificent "Aww" at such a
triumph of originality and drama...
Sprited Away broke all known Japanese box
office records.. until 2 weeks later when Load of the Rings
was released.. it won several international film awards
including the Golden Berlin Bear at Berlin International
Film Festival, the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Asian Film,
and the Japanese Academy Award for Best Picture.. yet no
fansubbing group decided to do america a favor and fansub
it..
its been 4 years since Hayao Miyazaki worked
in the business.. after Princess Mononoke he had retired
from the business.. but he's come back again... everytime
he takes the Ghibli's directing chair expectations are very
high.. most wonder how he could possibly surpase his last
masterpiece.. and with Spritied Away he does just that...
124 minutes, Japanese 6.1 Surround, English
Subtitles, and forced 16:9 letterbox ratio.. now available
at Cdjapan ^_^ ... Region 2 Dvd, though.. in my opinion,
the reason you'll buy a R2 dvd player... it'll probably
come out over here in the states in 3 or 4 years.. whenever
Disney decides to use their rights...
actually japanese title : Sen to Chihiro
no Kamikakushi ; literal translation : Sen and Chihiro of
The Hidden Gods
explanation : Chihiro is renamed to Sen
at the Bathhouse.. and the bathhouse of the Gods is hidden..
so the title makes sense i guess ^_^ ... now i know why
the US title was changed to something much easier to say...
